PCB Waterproof Adhesive

By: 02/28/2024 11:11

PCB waterproof adhesive is a type of waterproof adhesive specifically designed for PCB (Printed Circuit Board) applications. It is composed of resin and waterproof additives, providing hydrophobic and moisture-resistant properties, radiation resistance, high transparency, non-toxicity, no pollution, high and low-temperature resistance, aging resistance, and good weatherability.

Composition

PCB waterproof adhesive is a single-component, low-viscosity organic silicone resin, consisting of resin and waterproof additives.

Product Principle

It forms a waterproof and insulating protective gel, which can create a protective film on various printed circuit boards, preventing leakage and short circuits. Its transparent acrylic protective film can resist weak acids, alkalis, and alcohol, effectively preventing leakage and short circuits.

Applications

It is used in assembled printed circuit boards to protect them from various chemicals, moisture, dust, and extreme temperatures. Main applications include hybrid integrated circuits, automotive electronic control boards, electronic circuit boards, aviation instrument panels, flexible printed circuits, microcomputer control boards, household appliance control systems, electrical components, transformers, motor coils, and is widely used in industries such as electronics, electrical appliances, lighting, and communications. It serves the purpose of coating, insulation, and moisture resistance.

Characteristics and Advantages

- Moisture and salt spray resistance.

- Prevention of corrosion, prolonging equipment lifespan.

- Long-lasting protection effect.

- Long-lasting protection of electrical appliances, equipment, and parts, with high hardness, friction resistance, and heat resistance.

Operation

Before use, shake the waterproof oil evenly. The liquid can be brushed or sprayed onto the surface of the circuit board, or the entire circuit board can be immersed in the liquid and then air-dried. UV light can be used to detect areas not coated for easy touch-up. After 1-3 minutes of air drying at room temperature, the waterproof oil adheres closely to the surface of the circuit board, and its properties stabilize after 24 hours. It remains unchanged for twenty years under normal temperature and pressure. Circuit boards treated with waterproof oil can be immersed in water for 24 hours. After drying, there is no corrosion to the circuit board or electronic components, and the performance remains unchanged. This waterproof oil is resistant to temperatures ranging from -60 to +200 degrees Celsius and withstands 20,000 volts of high voltage. It is widely used in precision circuit board equipment such as air conditioners, refrigerators, and communication networks.

Usage

This adhesive is a single-component, low-viscosity silicone gel with good flowability. After curing, it becomes an elastic body. It exhibits excellent resistance to thermal cycling, aging, and insulation properties. The adhesive layer has excellent moisture resistance, shock resistance, and leakage resistance. It is neutral, non-corrosive to substrates, and has excellent adhesion, resistance to yellowing, and sealing properties. It has excellent weather resistance and can work long-term in the range of -60 to 180 degrees Celsius. The cured product is non-toxic, environmentally friendly, and has excellent bonding properties to various metals and non-metal materials.

Product Applications

- Sealing of metal or plastic housings for electronic modules.

- Surface coating for moisture-proof, dust-proof, and anti-static protection of printed circuit boards.

- Waterproof protection for connector plugs.

- Bonding and sealing of instruments and meters.

- With low viscosity, it effectively fills small gaps in components.

Instructions for Use

- Cleaning: Clean the surface to be bonded or coated, removing rust, dust, and oil stains.

- Gluing: Apply the adhesive to the cleaned surface evenly, ensuring uniform distribution, and then press the surfaces together for fixation.

- Curing: Curing is a process from the surface to the inside. Within 24 hours (at room temperature and 50% relative humidity), the adhesive will cure to a depth of 2-4mm. If the adhesive is applied deeply, especially in areas not easily exposed to air, the curing time will be extended. If the temperature and humidity are low, the curing time will also be prolonged.

Precautions

- After use, tightly seal the unused silicone adhesive immediately.

- When using again, if there is a slight skin at the seal, remove it, as it will not affect normal use.

- The adhesive is non-toxic, but it may cause slight irritation to the skin and eyes.

- Uncured silicone adhesive can be cleaned with solvents such as gasoline.
